These products use a coordinate measuring device and have a touch-trigger probe and three precise, orthogonal axes. The component being measured is in contact with the probe, which then records the component's position. Roundness measuring machines measure the diameter many times at 180 intervals between the measuring plungers. This approach is only appropriate for specimens that are elliptical or have an even number of lobes. These are highly accurate and easy to operate.
